Note that I will see these freezes while in anything on the system, but Process Explorer is just a good example. I would really appreciate any suggestions or insights as I've been looking at this for almost two weeks and not finding the culprit. Thank you. Why is the host running? I don't understand what you're asking here. What am I doing that is not legal?? We paid for Win10 on host.. I think I'm missing something here. Also, do you have any input or suggestions on the guest freezing issue that I detailed here?
I would appreciate any suggestions you may have. Try upgrading your VMware Workstation to the latest 16 version and check if the problem persists. If there are no hardware issues with the host server itself and the guest OS, one or another suggestion should definitely fix the problem. Never heard of that one. Do you find you need to do that very often? Then I would be stuck with a Hyper-V virtual machine. Wouldn't I lose some capabilities if it wasn't a VMWare virtual machine?
However, as you have noticed my sentiment is also expressed by some of your large clients. Your subscription model is undermined by Microsoft's upgrades. From my own experience it is easy to loose clients, and very difficult to get them back.
Where does "vmware-kms" come into play here. The name is not ringing a bell, but maybe the coffee has not kicked in. I have asked the video driver team to watch this issue for your response. They would know what specific logs would help here. I have the same problem on VMware Fusion Pro 12, but if I change the display settings to always use high performance graphics Fedora no longer freezes so that's my work around.
Host OS: Arch Linux 5. I see that xwayland crashes right before vmx-mks and vmx-svga. I'll try to work around the issue by migrating all applications from xwayland to wayland native.
Let's see if those issues still appear when VMware Workstation is the only xwayland app running. I still have the same issues with freezes after several hours of running VMware Workstation on a daily basis when I enable 3d acceleration.
The setup changed a bit as I now use kernel 5. That's a hybrid setup on a Dell With all VMs having 3d acceleration disabled it gives me no freezes throughout the day. I'm surprised it's still happening to you, many including myself haven't had the problem in a very long time.
Maybe adjust something there regarding VMX program settings. This does disable it system wide. However you can enable it for other applications by setting the environment variable to 0 for them. This makes the system go smoother, but it's by far not the desired solution.
Could anyone seeing this problem try one of the following suggestions to help pinpoint the problem: In the laptop bios setup, under Video, turn off Nvidia Optimus and then relaunch win 10 and retry? In the Nvidia control settings, select Nvidia graphics as the system-wide default instead of auto? Thomas All reactions. Anyone that could post a vmware. I restarted the VM and ran dmesg again while GNOME is working and unfortunately that message is the last line in the dmesg log after startup: [ My system Linux ubuntu 4. GNOME 3. Any news on it? At that point I noticed the similarities between Autodesk and VMware, decided that in principle I would not upgrade to 15 as I wasn't confident that a new version would fix my problems.
Now there is a similar dilemma, as I am being forced to upgrade, however I do not know when the next Windows 10 update will kill the new Workstation Pro, right?
